Diving Lemben Strait, Indonesia
October 2002
Lemben Strait is on the east side of the north tip of Sulawasi and 1 1/2 hours drive from NDC. We launched from the port in Bitung among all the market boats and local ferries.
The diving here is what is called "muck" diving because there is a muddy silty bottom rather than coral reef. But what amazing life we found. We decided to go the extra distance on a the recommendation of a friend I met last time I dove at Bunaken. We enjoyed it so much, plus the camera battery died early in the second dive, so we came back for a second day of diving. Neil has incredible patience. The bat fish got used to him being there and actually came over to check him out while he was photographing it.
