We had an incredible night dive at Black Rock right before New Years. For the first time on Maui, I saw oval squid. They are amazing. We saw 5 all together. Three in a group and two singles. Problem was they would get so close to us that it was hard to keep them in focus of the camera! They kept changing color to try to hide. But more incredible to me is how they move their 8 "arms" sometimes looking like elephants trying to roar to scare you away.
Other creatures we see at night include crab and octopus, a yellow-head moray eel out hunting,
Out for the evening
a banded shrimp, and a spanish dancer nudibranch.
