Quentin moved to Makawao with his mom after Christmas and is now attending Makawao Elementary School second grade. His sister Sophie stays with them every other weekend. He is now only half an hour drive from us now and I get to see him at least once a week. I pick him up from school on Wednesdays and we spend a few hours together.Written May 2008
Hawaii celebrates May Day as Lei Day. The schools in Hawaii celebrate May Day as a Hawaiian pageant with students representing Hawaii's royal court and all the classes performing for the court (and parents). Most schools now have the May Day program later in the month nearer to the end of the school year. Quentin's program was on May 23 and his second grade classes performed a dance to "Local to the Max". Quentin was all decked out in lei, hat, and aloha shorts.

Sophie got to come a day early for his performance and I was happy to see her because it had been a few months since I last got to see her. She is such a sweetheart.

After the program, we get to see Quentin before he goes back to class.
